Tips For Making Your Schedule Run Smoothly

By Shivam B

The idea of a schedule may seem restrictive for some people that are more “free-spirited,” but it can actually be freeing when you have a schedule to commit to because you know you have some type of responsibility. When we have boundaries set for ourselves, we are less likely to find ourselves wasting time or feeling unprepared. If you’re struggling trying to make your schedule work for you, here are a few tips that will help you get on track.

1) Get in the habit of writing down what needs to happen tomorrow at the end of each work day. This way, if something comes up later in the evening that happens to interrupt your plans, you’ll know exactly how and when to fit it back into your routine the next day.

2) Use a cell phone if you don’t have a planner. There are plenty of great apps that will help guide you in keeping track of the tasks you need to complete, and also remind yourself when it’s time to move on from one task to another with notifications or alarms.

3) For the days when you aren’t feeling as productive or efficient, don’t be afraid to take a break. If you’re not getting anything done, make use of your time by taking care of some errands or preparing for tasks that need to happen later in the week.

4) Sleep early to be able to wake up early. To make it easier, try setting your alarm for a time when you’re naturally in the lightest phase of your sleep cycle so that waking up won’t feel as jarring or complicated.
